2018 Poland Trip
In 2018, the PAF trip to Poland covered southern Poland and Ukraine. As usual, our trip planner Aleksandra designed an interesting trip combining many well know landmarks and a few unusual stops. Our time in Zakopane included the tram ride to the top of the mountain to enjoy some shopping and the spectacular views. No one will forget our ride down the Dunajec river and our tour to the Zywiec brewery. We visited Sandomierz where the very popular Polish TV show Ojciec Mateusz takes place. Our time is Ukraine was also unforgettable-from the experience of crossing the border to the amazing tour of Lwów.
Trip Itinerary
Monday, May 7: Depart from New York on LOT, overnight flight to Krakow.
Tuesday, May 8: Arrive in Kraków: Mariacki church – St.Mary’s Basilica, museum of Krakow (under the Cloth Hall) with tour guide. Dinner: Kraków. Hotel: Szary Residence-Michałowice
Wednesday, May 9: Auschwitz museum, Częstochowa - Jasna Góra Hotel:Sekwana-Częstochowa or Arche-Częstochowa
Thursday, May 10: Wadowice: Holy Father John Paul II Family Home, Zywiec-Brewery Museum. Dinner in Zakopane with live music. Hotel: Hotel PRL-Zakopane
Friday, May 11: Zakopane: Aerial Tramways to Kasprowy Wierch, shopping in Krupówki, rafting on Dunajec River. Hotel: Dom Turysty-Sanok
Saturday, May 12: Sanok: Outdoor Museum, Solina Dam, Polańczyk, Cruise on Solina lake. Hotel: Hotel Ewka-Polańczyk
Sunday, May 13: Hiking or narrow-gauge railroad to Połonina Wetlińska, visit to Przemyśl’s old town. Hotel: Hotel Gloria-Przemyśl
Monday, May 14: State Archives in Przemyśl. Travel to the Ukraine. Visit to several Ukraine villages. Hotel: Hotel Mirage-Sądowa Wisznia
Tuesday, May 15: Lwów, including the State Archives. Hotel: Hotel Mirage-Sądowa Wisznia
Wednesday, May 16: Visiting sites in the Ukraine. Hotel: Hotel Antoni-Tomaszów Lub.
Thursday, May 17: Zamość-fortress and old town, Sandomierz-old town and cathedral. Hotel: Hotel Sarmata-Sandomierz
Friday, May 18: Ujazd, Krzyżtopór Palace, Wieliczka Salt Mine. Hotel: Zajazd Kosynier-Bibice
Saturday, May 19: Kraków: Wawel Castle, city touring, Chopin concert. Hotel: Hotel Wyspiański-Kraków
Sunday, May 20: After breakfast, depart for New York.
